Wet-Process Low Refractive Index Coatings

ECLEAR presents two candidate liquid coatings for wet-process anti-reflection evaluation. Different reported cured-film refractive indices support material and layer-design studies on a compatible substrate and complete optical stack.

Development evaluation

D115 and D125 are proposed ECLEAR development references for separate candidates, not released commercial grades. Suitability for a customer process requires validation.

  1. Refractive index, k and film thickness were reported by ellipsometry. The 1.01 μm film is the measurement specimen, not a recommended anti-reflection thickness. The displayed k value applies only at 550 nm and the reported precision.
  2. Viscosity: Brookfield; temperature and settings unspecified. Solids: heat-and-loss method; percentage basis and procedure require confirmation. Haze: Nippon Denshoku COH 5500; substrate, reference and standard unspecified.
  3. Storage duration start point and packaging conditions are unspecified. Confirm batch-specific shelf life, transport conditions and the applicable SDS before handling.

A lower refractive index does not automatically mean lower reflection. No reflectance or absolute transmission specification is assigned. Neither candidate has a verified hardness, hydrophobic or anti-fingerprint specification.

Match the coating to the substrate

Initial screening can consider glass or other substrates proven to tolerate the selected process. PET display films remain a development direction. Suitability for PET, PC, PMMA and existing hardcoats has not been established.

Define the optical stack

Share the substrate, existing coatings, wavelength range, intended dry-film thickness and target optical performance.

Agree the trial conditions

Review coating equipment and curing limits. Dilution, solvent, filtration, pot life and coating-speed windows are not validated in the available data.

Measure the coated article

Validate reflection, transmission, haze, adhesion and application-specific durability on the actual thickness and complete structure.
