ECLEAR representatives visited Apple Park in Cupertino for a technical exchange on abrasion- and scratch-resistant hardcoats for selected engineering-polymer substrates.
On November 1, 2023, ECLEAR co-founder Jack Pan and Dr. Hwajin Oh visited Apple Park in Cupertino for a technical exchange with members of Apple’s product-development materials team.
The discussion focused on abrasion- and scratch-resistant coatings for selected black and clear engineering-polymer substrates. Topics included UV-curable hardcoats for polycarbonate and acrylic, index-matching options and approaches to improving steel-wool scratch resistance.
Before and after the meeting, sample plaques and coated specimens were exchanged for preliminary evaluation. The resulting feedback informed follow-up formulation and process work. Specific substrate grades, coating formulations, test limits and evaluation results remain confidential.
