®Apple Product Development Materials Representative Visits ECLEAR’s Sanming Coating Facility
A technical review at ECLEAR’s Sanming facility covered abrasion- and scratch-resistant hardcoats, coated-sample evaluation and manufacturing considerations for engineering-polymer parts.
On September 25, 2023, a representative of Apple’s product-development materials team visited ECLEAR’s coating facility in Sanming, China, to review abrasion- and scratch-resistant coating technologies.
The agenda covered UV-curable systems for polycarbonate and acrylic, index-matched hardcoats, selected lens applications and the preparation and evaluation of coated samples. ECLEAR also reviewed how substrate selection, pretreatment, cure conditions and forming requirements can affect final performance.
The meeting provided an opportunity to review initial sample feedback and identify follow-up, application-specific validation work. Technical specifications and evaluation results remain confidential.
